Johann Heinrich (John Henry) Stonecipher was born in Siegen, Eiserfeld, Germany. Died in 1818 in Wilkes County North Carolina. -- parents were Hohannes Steinseiffer and Elizabeth Schuster in Germany.
NOTE: It is supposed that Johann Heinrich was in the German Army at the time his father came to America in 1749. He arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Oct, 2, 1753 on the ship, Edin burg, under the command of Captain John Lyon. From Germany, he boarded the ship Rotterdam, Netherlands, and came by way of Cowes, England. The ship record showed his age to be 28. He settled in Culpepper, Virginia --

Joseph Marion Stoncipher (born in Culpepper County, Virginia. Died July 30th 1847 and buried in Beech Fork Cemetary, Morgan County, Tennessee.

NOTE: Sandra Goodwin has Joseph Stonecipher listed at Roots Web World Connect project with the following information: "Joseph Stonecipher, the eldest son of John Henry and Ellen Dortch Stonecipher, born in Culpepper Coutny, Virginiea in 1754, wnt to Wilkes County, N.C. in 1773. He volunteered ther for duty during the Revolutionary War. His first term ws for three months (serving as a private in a regimant under Captain William Jackson and was honorably discharged). He was later drafted for antoher three months (serving under Captain Isabel, Col Elisha Issaac and others.) He was in the Battle of Cox's Mill and King's Mountain, among others. Joseph married Salome Ross in 1781 at Golden Grove on the banks of the Watauga River in Wilkes County, North Carolina. She may have come from Pennsylvania with her family. Joseph and Salome moved to Tennessee abou t1812 and he died there in Morgan County, July 30, 1847. Salome died some time after. They were parents of eight children. "Stonecipher Family by E. Irene Brookshier".
